Lingam Massage

“Touched. How did you get here? Close your eyes… and surrender!”

Rumi

What does Lingam mean?

Lingam is the Sanskrit word for the penis of people who identify as men. The closest translation of the word Lingam into English is “wand of light.” And in Tantric practices, the lingam is always treated with honour and respect. Tantra is about approaching the body as a temple. And for men, the Lingam is considered the most sacred place of the temple.

What is a Lingam Massage?

A Lingam Massage is a sensual massage of the penis and surrounding area including testicles, perineum and the external anal area. I talk about internal anal touch and prostate massage here.  A Lingam Massage is most often offered as part of a Tantric Massage. Unlike a ‘happy ending’ massage, Lingam Massage is an honouring of the masculine energy in your body by focussing on the genitals and Lingam. It is a slow dance of raising sexual energy and supporting you to feel this in new ways, circulating your energy for health, vitality and even spiritual connection.

Is Lingam Massage just about sex?

Surprisingly to most people, a Lingam Massage isn’t about sex or foreplay, although arousal, orgasm and ejaculation can and often happens. In Both Tantric and Lingam Massage, the intention is that the giver is in service to the person receiving, so that the person receiving can totally relax knowing that they don’t have to do anything other than receive honouring touch. There is no goal, nowhere to get to and no performance. It is simply loving, honouring touch that may, or may not lead to arousal, orgasm and ejaculation. Some couples use do use Lingam Massage as a precursor to deeper intimacy - but the intention first and foremost is to honour the masculine energy of Lingam owner.

What are the benefits of Lingam Massage?

  • Offers a slow, methodical and sensual way to explore what feels good for the body
  • Receivers can feel more comfortable in their own skin and more in tune with their own body
  • Can help to ease the effects of sexual trauma
  • A reconnecting with your body and developing a more body positive perspective
  • Can inspire body confidence and acceptance of your genitals as a beautiful, sacred and powerful part of your whole body
  • An opportunity to experience loving honouring touch without the need to reciprocate or perform
  • A loving way for partners to connect with each other

What about arousal and orgasm?

Lingam Massage can be very stimulating. Whole-body experience of touch before approaching more sensitive areas, enables arousal that comes from relaxation rather than tension which is usually experienced during intimacy. Orgasm and ejaculation are not the goal but may happen during the Lingam Massage. Some Tantra practitioners have a policy of non-ejaculation, and yes, this can be an important part of your journey into deeper vitality and sacred sexuality. However at Pleasure . Potential . Power, people come for a Lingam Massage for different reasons and so I like to give them a choice over whether they want to ejaculate during a Lingam Massage or not.  Both Tantric and Lingam Massage can also bring emotional releases and a mixture of tears, laughter and arousal can all happen during a Tantric and Lingam Massage.
